Middle School Summer Information

First of all we would like to share a warm welcome to all of

Mrs. Newton’s class.  We are excited to have you

as part of the Middle School.

There are several things that the middle school teachers

would like to share with our students.

In order to experience great success in Middle School, students should spend time over the summer preparing for their upcoming classes.  Students need to practice all math skills over the summer.  Reading is also an important skill to continue practicing.

We have a required reading list for 7th and 8th grade

students.  Sixth grade students are also encouraged to read

at least 3 books of their choice over the summer.

Just click on the link and choose a book to enjoy.

We have included some very good internet links to help students

review their math skills before starting back to school.

These sites will allow students to determine what skills they

need to review. The first site will allow them to design

printable worksheets on those skills.  The second site is an

interactive site that will allow them to practice selected

skills.  As a suggestion, here are some skills that may be

helpful for each grade level.

Students entering 6th grade

All number facts for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Students entering 7th grade

All operations involving integers, fractions, decimals and percents

Students entering 8th grade

Pre-Algebra and Basic Algebra Skills

Don't forget all rising 8th grade students were

given a math packet to be completed by August 25 (extras are available in the office).
