This is my 25th year teaching at St. Leo School. I was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and I attended mostly Catholic schools throughout my life. I received a B.A. in French with a minor in English from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, MD, which was founded by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. During my junior year, I studied in Avignon, France at the Institute for American Universities. After graduation I taught French and English in high school in New Jersey. Then, I substituted in middle and high schools in Florida. I have taken post graduate courses at Wake Forest University. During my years at St. Leo’s, I have had the privilege to teach French to all grades, serve as both interim principal and assistant to the principal, and for many years, teach in our middle school. I am certified in middle school English and high school French by the state of North Carolina, and by the Diocese of Charlotte to teach religion. Currently, I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the NC Middle School Association, and the National Catholic Education Association. For the past few years, I have been a writing assessment facilitator for our diocese as well as a mentor teacher.
My husband and I have lived in Winston-Salem for 30 years. He is retired from Lucent Technologies and spends most of his time donating his time as a handyman. We have two grown daughters who attended St. Leo School from kindergarten through eighth grade, and who benefited greatly from that experience. They also graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jennifer is a vice president for Wachovia Bank in Charlotte and travels around the nation as a part of her job. April, a former athletic trainer, is employed as a physician assistant for an orthopedic surgeon in Florida. Her wedding will be in October. Her fiancé is pursuing his doctorate and teaching at the University of Florida.
I enjoy reading, watching old movies, traveling, and I am an avid sports enthusiast which helps me to relate to my middle school students. Working, praying, and spending time with my students greatly enhances my life and my faith.
