Grades Preschool-2
These students learn primarily by doing. Singing, playing rhythm instruments, moving to music, and creating music enables them to acquire musical skills that can be developed in no other way.

Grades 3-5
These capabilities along with learning to read and notate music, folk and square dancing, and the study of orchestral instruments and composers are the basis for this age group. The playing of a recorder is stressed in fourth grade and a recorder concert is the culmination of our study. All students in the fourth grade should purchase a recorder. We will begin instruction on this instrument in early October.

Grades 6-8
Students' musical development is especially critical in this age group. The music they perform or study often becomes an integral part of their personal musical repertoire. We will listen to, analyze, evaluate, and describe a wide variety of music. Also students will form an understanding of music in relation to history and cultures from around the world. A study of classical music and its composers will be emphasized and listening to renowned compositions will be a part of the curriculum. In addition a chorus of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders will sing for a PTO program and for student masses on occasion.
